Image Batching Options:
Before any index can be applied we need to know how you wish to have the image's batched or grouped. Because the images are already on microfilm and probably were not filmed with the idea that they would be scanned in the future there can be some issues here. Very extensive Indexing below can be performed, however it can be very expensive as well. Think carefully about how you wish to retrieve these images after they are scanned and then please try and indicate to best of your ability how you wish to have them batched.

Film Type(s) with Options Index Level
  16mm Roll Film - 3 basic options
Each image on every roll becomes a single-image file. Level I, II or IV
Each individual roll becomes a multi-image file. Level III or IV
A group of rolls prearranged by you becomes a multi-image file. Level III or IV
16mm Roll Film - 2 advanced options (for film with Blips)
. Tri-level blipped film - Can be batched by large or medium blip creating a multi-image file for each blipped batch file. Level III or IV .
. Film blipped with any size blip at start of batch file and no blips on subsequent images creates a multi-image file for each blipped batch. Level III or IV . >

  105m Fiche/Jackets - 3 options
Each image on every fiche becomes a single-image file. Level I, II or IV
Each individual fiche becomes a multi-image file. Level III or IV
A group of fiche prearranged by you becomes a multi-image file. Level III or IV

  35mm rolls - 2 options
Each image on every roll becomes a single-image file. Level I, II or IV
Each individual roll becomes a multi-image file. Level III or IV

  Aperture Cards - 3 options
Holerith (punch card) data can be read and converted as file name. Level I, II or IV
Each individual card becomes a single-image file. Level I, II or IV
A group of cards prearranged by you becomes a multi-image file. Level III or IV

Indexing Levels:
Approximately how many documents per fiche, roll, batch or how many images per reference point?

There are four Levels of Indexing for Film Scanning:

Level I Very basic and most affordable.
This method creates a single-image file for each individual image that references the images in sequential order per the order in which they were received. (i.e. first page on the roll or fiche becomes = 00001, the second image = 00002 and so on...) These files are batched into folders with the folder name being the fiche title, roll name or any other singular naming method predetermined by you.

Level II Very intense and most expensive.
This method creates a single-image file for each individual image just as in Level I. However we then can rename every file with a name that pertains to each individual image like a SSN or something common on every document.

  Level III Moderate and average.
This method creates a multi-image file that encompasses all the images from a batch into a multi-image file. This multi-image file is then renamed using a singular naming method predetermined by you. File names are limited to 165 characters for Win '95, '98, '00, ME, NT and XP.

Level IV Intense and average.
This method creates an cross referenced index in an electronic format and can be used with either single-image or multi-image files. This index can be imported into a retrieval system you already have or it will require the purchasing or FicheNet Imaging Solutions Barracuda Image Retrieval Software. Can be used with any of the batching methods listed above. The cross referenced index uses up to 5 fields (or more) of objective indexing. (user keyed) This index provides at table references the objective data, the file name, path and sub-path data and can be imported into almost any program. We can provide the index in .xls, .doc, .mdb, .foxpro etc.. look all of them up jackass

Please list the specific data for a Level IV index and approx. character length of each field below
  (i.e. Data Field#1=SSN# and is 11 characters)

Media Duplication
FicheNet Imaging Solutions clients customarily choose to purchase at the minimum 2 generations of microfilm or electronic media. The first generation is the Master. This Master serves as the archival media and should be kept in an environmentally controlled storage facility. The second generation, or Duplicate, is the working copy of the Master. This is the media that should be used on a day to day basis for retrieving and viewing
